Question about FiiO M7

I previously had an IPod classic, but now that it is giving up the ghost, I am looking for a replacement. I know that iTunes doesn't work with the Fiio, but can it read the files (.m4a)? I'm not familiar with all the file formats. Many thanks for the information.

With the Ipods, you can change the battery and it will run for a few years again.

According to Fiio, the following file formats are compatible
Besides the "classics" MP3, WMA and AAC, the M7 also plays FLAC, ALAC, WAV and even DSD64 (.dsf and .dff) in best quality. M4a is, as far as I know, the file abbreviation for AAC (I am not an Apple fan) and can therefore be played.
If it does not work, there are various m4a to mp3 converters on the net.

With Itunes, the FIIO does not work - setting the audio data is done via storage media.
And .M4a is possible but not necessarily guaranteed to work.
What is guaranteed to work is: MP3, WMA and AAC (appel format) FLAC, ALAC, WAV, and DSD4 (.dsf and .dff). All in the best quality.
MediaMonkey would be quite good for organising.
