VB6/VB7 - Compact Reversing Contactors. The mechanical interlock between the two contactors prevents one contactor from being activated while the other is still engaged, and vice versa. If reversing contactors are switched too quickly, there is a risk of a phase short circuit. This occurs when the arc of the disengaging contactor has not yet been extinguished and the contacts of the engaging contactor are already closed. To avoid this risk, both contactor coils must be de-energized for at least 50 ms during the switching process and must also be electrically interlocked against each other.
