In many live situations, ambient sound on stage is a significant issue. That’s why the OD505 features a supercardioid pickup pattern. This effectively minimizes unwanted bleed and focuses on the voice. This ensures optimal control over vocal sound, as elements like drums or other loud instruments in close proximity are not additionally amplified through the vocal microphone.

Making Passion Heard

The capsule with Active Dynamic technology requires 48V phantom power and has a sensitivity of 4.4 mV/Pa, nearly matching that of a condenser microphone. This allows even soft sounds to be captured with remarkable detail. The second, lower capsule is passively wired and captures only mechanically introduced signals. By phase-inverting and mixing this signal with the active capsule, along with the switchable second-order high-pass filter, the OD505 significantly reduces low-frequency handling noise, which often causes the most problems in the signal chain.

This thoughtful design is complemented by another Austrian Audio innovation, the Pop Noise Diffuser. This filter is specifically tuned to the microphone and minimizes explosive sounds like T and P to a minimum.
