Founded in 1946 as Zweckform Schreibwaren und Bürobedarfs GmbH in a former cow barn in Oberlaindern, Bavaria, the company initially successfully produced forms and duplicate books, as well as receipt pads and other office supplies. In 1956, it entered into a licensing agreement with the label company of American Stan Avery, who had developed the world's first self-adhesive labels 20 years earlier.

The sticker boom, the increasing prevalence of various types of printers starting in the 1970s, and the Post-it phenomenon led to continuous expansions of the product range. Thanks to ongoing modernization and expansions in all areas, as well as new partnerships, Avery Zweckform is now internationally successful. The company is also present on social media and established an online printing portal in 2010, where consumers can design and print labels, business cards, foils, and more.

The wood used in furniture, toys, books, notebooks, or pencils with the FSC label comes from forests that are managed responsibly. There are ten globally applicable principles that must be adhered to by all FSC standards in different countries. Forests and plantations that are FSC certified are managed according to stricter ecological and social principles to ensure the long-term preservation of forests.
