100% of the casing is shaped through a CNC machining process (Computer Numerical Control). The precisely crafted, machine-milled aluminum casing results in an elegant design with high manufacturing quality, which is stronger and stiffer than magnesium or plastic. The black carbon fiber palm rest, borrowed from the aerospace industry, or the fiberglass palm rest in Arctic White offers maximum strength and minimal weight. The design team worked tirelessly until every detail was perfect – a carefully crafted backlighting and a UV- and stain-resistant coating to prevent yellowing and stains.
Elements such as the display, keys, and touchpad are larger for a simpler, optimized user experience. The XPS features a 6.8% larger 16:10 display, a 17% larger touchpad, and a borderless backlit keyboard with larger keys.
