The phase sequence relay simultaneously monitors the correct sequence (direction of rotation) of the 3 phases L1, L2, and L3, as well as the failure of one or more phases. As long as the phase sequence is correct and no phase has failed, both output relays are energized. The output relay opens in case of incorrect phase sequence or failure of one or more phases.

Caution: Two-phase running motors may generate so much back EMF that the relay cannot drop out despite the failure of one phase. In such cases, we recommend using our three-phase network monitor DWN.
