The timing of the signals is also important. Additional information about copy protection and supported video and audio formats must be exchanged. If these signals are not transmitted clearly, the connection will drop or may not be established at all. In many cases, an HDMI repeater can help. This is a signal amplifier for HDMI signals. As with all amplifiers, it is important to note that such devices cannot perform miracles. The signal at the input must still be clean. It is then amplified and sent to the display at a higher level. Typically, the repeater receives the necessary power from the HDMI source device. It can happen that an HDMI device cannot provide enough power or that the voltage drops. This occurs with some HDMI cables, and the repeater then receives insufficient energy.
