The jSax follows the traditional finger patterns of the saxophone, allowing children to develop their saxophone embouchure and playing skills from an early age. It has a surprisingly soft saxophone sound and is enjoyable to play even for an experienced hobby saxophonist. Like all other Nuvo instruments, the jSax is tuned in C, making it suitable for all WindStars music pieces. It has a fully chromatic range from middle C to G in the next octave. For beginners with small fingers, there is a set of plugs (training wheels) that can help close the tone holes during the initial days of learning.

The jSax is lightweight, super durable, and 100 percent waterproof, making it ideal for both classroom use and as a fun travel instrument. It uses standard Nuvo resin reeds with strengths of 1/2 and 2, which are included in the kit. An E clarinet reed can also be used, and some soprano saxophone mouthpieces fit as well. You might also want to try the synthetic reed from Légère, which is compatible with all Nuvo instruments. The jSax comes with a durable, blow-molded case, a carrying strap, and a fingering chart.
