An optical patch cable (jumper cable) is a standard or custom-made connection cable with optical connectors at both ends. Patch cables are used to connect devices within a cabinet or to connect active elements to an optical link that terminates in the cabinet. Patch cables are typically duplex (2x fiber, 4x connectors), but simplex cables (1x fiber, 2x connectors) can also be provided for single-fiber xWDM applications upon request. The connectors E2000, SC, and LC are then connected in a duplex design with a removable clip, allowing the separation of the duplex patch cable into two simplex cables (this is not only possible with the robust Heavy Duplex variant).
