Palmer Power Attenuator - Control the Volume of Your Guitar Amplifier

The PDI06 is a power attenuator designed for live use. The device is connected between the amplifier output and the speaker cabinet. It allows you to take advantage of the desirable power tube distortion from tube amplifiers while reducing the associated high volume. The volume can be practically reduced for stage and rehearsal room conditions in 6 steps from 100% to 18%. An additional setting completely mutes the speaker, allowing the PDI06 to function as a load box, absorbing the full power output from the amplifier.

This mode is useful when you want to play directly into the mixing console via an existing line output from the amplifier that features speaker emulation, and unwanted volume in the recording room is a concern. The device has an input for the speaker signal from the amplifier and two outputs for connecting speaker cabinets.

The total impedance of the speakers must match the value specified on the PDI06. For example, a PDI06 rated for 8 ohms can connect to either an 8-ohm cabinet or two 16-ohm cabinets (the 16-ohm version has only one output). The output of the tube amplifier should also be set to 8 ohms.
