A total of 13 lens elements in 11 groups ensure maximum resolution right to the edge with minimal distortion and edge darkening. Two aspherical and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses also prevent chromatic aberration. A double focussing system, which combines a linear and a stepper motor, as well as 480Hz control ensure fast and precise autofocus. The lens has a "focus clutch" mechanism that allows the focus ring to be set between two positions, one with and one without focus distance information. This enables fast AF/MF changes and ensures intuitive operability. The Lumix S PRO 50mm F1.4 also shines in video recordings by reducing the effect of focus breathing. Resistant to dust, splash water and cold, the lens can be used in difficult weather conditions - even at temperatures as low as -10°C.
