It is new, but it is old Intel technology, Apple has "disposed" of this device technology after mid-2020 and is relying exclusively on energy-optimised proprietary processors, which are called M1. These new CPUs are faster than Intel's, require less power and less cooling because they don't get hot. When buying a new iMac with an M1 processor, the 16GB model should be purchased, because the memory is not expandable with the M1 processor, as the memory is virtually in the processor itself. The only disadvantage is that the new iMac is only available with a 24-inch display. However, if you want to use a larger display, you can use a Mac Mini with M1 processor with a 27 or 28 inch UHD 4K 3840 x 2160 pixel display (available from 250 at Digitec with IPS panel). You can even use two such displays on the iMac Mini with M1 processor. New iMac M1 with 16GB RAM: Apple iMac (24 ", M1, 16 GB, 512 GB, SSD) New Mac Mini M1 and 16GB RAM: Apple Mac Mini - Late 2020 (M1, 16GB, 512GB, SSD) Good 27 inch screen with IPS panel and 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution: AOC U2790PQU (27 ", 3840 x 2160 Pixels)

I asked the same question to the seller. He told me that there was no difference. MXWV2D/A was intended for the German market, MXWV2SM/A for Switzerland. MXWV2D/A would be delivered with the BS "BIG SUR", MXWV2SM/A would still have the older Catalina on it. However, my MXWV2SM/A, which is CHF 30 cheaper, was also delivered with BIG SUR!? 😲🤨

Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide information about the space used by the OS. It is possible to process files from Windows hard drives on the Mac. However, it is not possible to add an M.2 hard disk to this Mac, as there is only one slot that is already in use. However, it is usually possible to replace the hard disk of the Imac alone.

Tip: Always buy the 8 GB version, which has 2*4 GB installed. Then buy one or two RAM bars, for example: Samsung M471A4G43MB1-CTD (1x, 32GB, DDR4-2666, SO-DIMM 260 pin) Installing RAM on the iMac is really child's play. Apple charges exorbitant prices for the RAM upgrade. For example, you pay CHF 2800 for 128 GB RAM, while here at Digitec you can get 128 GB RAM for CHF 560...
