The scanner also works with empty cartridges, provided the ink level control is switched off. But be careful (!!), if the scan function is used directly for copying, the print head "burns" and the printer is "scrap" (a new print head directly from the Japanese manufacturer costs about 100 € .... However, I returned the printer after a short time because it broke down shortly after I started using it. All in all, I was very disappointed with the successor model to the TS6050, which worked great for many years ....

Look in the printer settings in the "Maintenance" tab, there should be a function "Auto on/off" or similar.... will most likely need the Canon driver - the drivers that Windows installs itself are often limited in their range of functions.
