You can (or MUST) use WLAN for system updates, for example. Or if the child writes messages at home, this does not take up the data volume of the SIM card. WhatsApp does not work, but messages can be sent and received via the Xplora app. Pictures and videos can also be sent. This would then be done via WLAN. Even if the child is at a friend's house, WLAN can be used there instead of mobile data. But for system updates, Wi-Fi is absolutely necessary.

For the online models of the Xplora X6 Play, you can recognise which ones work with a physical SIM card by paying attention to the following details: - SIM card type: the Xplora X6 Play supports both eSIM and nano SIM cards. Models that work with a physical SIM card are often described as "with nano SIM card" or "with SIM card". - Description and specifications: Product descriptions often mention whether the device uses a physical SIM card. For example: "The Xplora X6 Play comes with a pre-installed Xplora Connect SIM card, but it can also be operated with a nano SIM card". - Included items: Sometimes the sales offers mention whether a SIM card is included or whether the device is prepared for the use of a physical SIM card. You can use these notes to determine whether the specific model you are looking at is compatible with a physical SIM card.

Plan with roaming should be enough, the device doesn't use much data. Messages can only be sent via the Xplora app, audio and photos are also possible, video calls, WhatsApp or FaceTime are not compatible. Calls can be made to authorised contacts with a normal network.

I would contact the telephone provider. I'm sure you'll get an invoice with a sender on it. It's always a tricky thing with plans ... Just be careful where it's valid. Depending on where it's valid, you may have to pay horrendous roaming costs. I'm writing this because you write Euro and Amazon. If you want to use it in Switzerland, I would stay away from it...

I bought x6 with sim works fine. I had x5 esim and it did not work well I changed it. They say it is a network operator problem but it is not so the pin does not change anything. You can also remove it but it's really a problem with the device and esim updates

I have both models for my children. The only difference I noticed is the sim variant. This model has a nano-Sim, the other eSim. Other than that, I can't understand the difference either. LG Raphi
