cheap, light and it charges batteries
a small, lightweight charger that had to be because Sony was too stingy to include one with the RX100 line.

It is sensible to sell them without USB transformers, which are usually already available in large numbers - or easy to obtain if necessary. In addition to USB in computer peripherals, there are also car adapters ('cigarette lighter socket'), power banks or small mobile solar panels.
