The optical performance of the Sigma 2.8/24-70 mm DG DN II Art is noticeably better than that of the 1st generation of the zoom. The zoom definitely deserves a recommendation. The predecessor model usually achieves slightly higher resolution values in the centre of the image, but the revised version shines with better contrast in the centre of the image and a lower overall edge fall-off...

Not quite cheap, but worth every euro: the newly designed and in many respects improved version of the classic zoom delivers excellent images because it is precisely adapted to the needs of modern system cameras. Canon and Nikon photographers can be a little envious.
