The workmanship and robustness speak in favour of the dust and splash-proof lens. The image quality is also outstanding.
The lens does not have an optical image stabiliser, which would make perfect sense for the 50-millimetre standard focal length. The focal length range is slightly too short.
Although the 2x zoom range up to 50 millimetres is basically sufficient, the light telephoto focal length up to 70 millimetres is often missed. The Sony lens is more suitable for street photography. Its image quality is beyond criticism.
