World's first travel zoom lens with F/2.8 speed for mirrorless full format cameras
This premiere marks the beginning of a new era in the history of travel zoom lenses: the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 is the first
This premiere marks the beginning of a new era in the history of travel zoom lenses: the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 is the first
lens in this class to offer the high speed of F/2.8 at a 28mm wide-angle setting, and the widest possible aperture is F/3.5 at 50mm focal length, F/4.5 at 100mm and F/5.6 from 150mm to 200mm. This makes the very compact 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 an extraordinarily versatile photo lens that is recommended for a wide range of shooting situations.
All lenses of the Tamron E-Mount series for mirrorless full format cameras are characterized by their optical and technical performance as well as their high ease of use. In addition to a uniform filter size (67 mm), the developers paid particular attention to the compact housing design and low weight when designing the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6. The new travel zoom lens, for example, is only 117 mm long and weighs just 575g, while the housing diameter is remarkably small at 74 mm. These key data make the new zoom lens the ideal companion for a carefree photo tour.
The optical design of the new travel zoom lens consists of 18 elements in 14 groups, including several special lenses such as GM (Glass Molded Aspherical), XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) elements and hybrid aspheres that minimize optical aberrations and enable high resolution. The lens surfaces are coated with Tamron's BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating, whose anti-reflection properties reduce disturbing ghost images and aperture spots, ensuring sharp and brilliant images. It also supports in-camera distortion and vignetting correction, ensuring consistently high image quality right up to the edges, regardless of the selected focal length.
In developing its travel zoom lenses, Tamron has always focused on setting new standards in image quality in this class. The 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 is no exception and is therefore suitable for spontaneous snapshots as well as for sophisticated photo shots.
For a travel zoom lens, the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 has exceptional close-up capabilities. The 28mm wide angle allows you to focus on the subject from a distance of just 0.19m, giving you a maximum magnification of 1:3.1. The background can be beautifully blurred thanks to the large aperture of F/2.8. When shooting with the 200 mm telephoto lens, the shortest focusing distance is 0.80 m, which corresponds to a scale of 1:3.8. The user can thus create impressively composed close-ups at any focal length.
The autofocus system has a sensor that determines the current focus setting of the lens and an RXD stepper motor (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive). Both ensure fast and precise automatic focusing, so that the focus can be continuously adjusted even with dynamic objects. The autofocus works so quietly that practically no disturbing focusing noise is recorded during video recording. The compact RXD technology also contributes significantly to the compactness of the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6.
