In addition to a uniform filter size (67 mm), the developers paid particular attention to the compact housing design and low weight when designing the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6. The new travel zoom lens, for example, is only 117 mm long and weighs just 575g, while the housing diameter is remarkably small at 74 mm. The autofocus system has a sensor that determines the current focus setting of the lens and an RXD stepper motor (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive). Both ensure fast and precise automatic focusing, so that the focus can be continuously adjusted even with dynamic objects.
