Wilma and the ocean
The oceans cover more than two-thirds of the Earth's surface and are crucial for the development of climate and habitat for numerous animal and plant species. Unfortunately, the oceans are also threatened, particularly by the enormous amount of plastic waste produced by humans. That's why the Swedish brand Wilma has developed a mobile phone case that benefits our oceans in two ways: firstly, the Wilma Stop Ocean Plastic Collection is made of biodegradable plastic, and secondly, Wilma donates $1 per case sold to support organizations that work to clean up the oceans and the environment of plastics.
Wilma combines fashion with sustainability
Wilma's origins lie in making fashionable cell phone cases. With its new Stop Ocean Plastic Pollution collection, Wilma merges this origin with a sustainable approach to production and material selection, making it the logical choice for environmentally conscious smartphone users.
A biodegradable case
Wilma has created a collection of biodegradable materials capable of breaking down into carbon dioxide and water without leaving toxic residues. The raw materials are certified biodegradable according to the European standard EN 13432. Wilma sleeves are made from a mixture of PLA and PBAT materials that are compostable and leave no harmful plastic residues. If a sleeve is not in use, it can be degraded in a private or industrial composting plant within 8 to 12 months without the formation of toxic residues (the duration may vary depending on environmental conditions).
Why a biodegradable smartphone case?
On average, a smartphone user changes their phone every two years. After that, the old case, often made of nearly 100% non-degradable plastic, is typically no longer needed. A biodegradable cover elegantly and sustainably addresses this issue.
