Top rated Filters (photography)
Here's a ranking of the top rated products in this category. To give you a quick overview, we've also added some key information about the products.
1. Hoya Digital Filter Kit II (UV, CIR-PL & ND8) Filterset
The HOYA Digital Filter Kit II includes three main filters commonly used in photography. The set contains:
UV(C) Filter: A UV(C) filter is used to capture UV light and provides general protection for the lens. It features a high-quality UV-cut and anti-reflective coating that has been applied on both sides.
Circular Polarizer (CIR-PL): A circular polarizing filter is a basic filter with a polarization effect, designed to eliminate unwanted reflections or enhance the contrast of sky and nature subjects.
NDX8: An ND (Neutral Density) 8 filter reduces the amount of light by three stops, corresponding to an eightfold longer shutter speed. By using this filter, it is possible to achieve the effect of blurred motion of water or moving objects even with a wide aperture. The ND8 filter is also suitable for bright environments with a fixed shutter speed and open aperture. Filter factor 8, transmissivity 12.5%, density 0.9 f/stop 3.

2. Hama O-Haze

- Protects the lens against scratches, dust, and fingerprints
- Quality standard (glass): standard
- Impact of the picture:
- Clear, sharp photos in colour and black and white
- Blocks UV rays up to 390 nm
- Filters haze and avoids unsharpness.

3. Hoya HD CIR-PL Filter
Light rays reflected from any surface can be polarized. Therefore, polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. With CIR-PL filters, you can eliminate unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass. They also allow colors to appear more saturated, clearer, and with greater contrast. This effect is often used to enhance contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot. The filter features a highly transparent and highly durable UV-absorbing coating that offers 25% higher light transmission than standard polarizing filters. The ultra-thin frame is compatible with wide-angle lenses. The glass is mounted using high-pressure pressing technology.

4. Hoya HMC Super Pro1 UV Filter
The Hoya HMC Super Pro1 are professional UV filters with exceptionally high transmission and perfect color balance. The increased durability of the hardened glass ensures that UV filters cut out unwanted ultraviolet rays, reduce haze, and enhance clarity. Additionally, the UV filter serves very well as a protective glass for the lens. With 12 layers of coating, they offer a transmission of 99.7%. The reinforced glass is 40% lighter than conventional filters, and the 3 mm filter mount is excellent for wide-angle shots with a front thread.

5. Hoya UX II UV Filter
The UX II UV filter with a water-repellent coating is a new development of the HMC UV(C) filter, which is now integrated into the new standard class of the UX II series along with the UX II CIR-PL filter. The UX II UV filter is a completely redesigned product aimed at entry-level users, offering high quality standards along with basic and contemporary features. Although UV rays are not visible to the naked eye, they can negatively affect images taken in locations such as the sea or mountains, leading to blurred outlines or pale and whitish images. UV filters can suppress the UV spectrum contained in daylight, which primarily causes adverse effects on images. This filter can be used with both film and digital cameras, resulting in more vibrant images. Additionally, this filter serves as daily lens protection when it is kept attached.

6. Hoya Pro ND1000 Filter
The Hoya ND 1000 reduces light by an equivalent of 10 stops. Neutral density filters (ND filters) are among the most sought-after and important types of photographic filters for several reasons. For photographers, ND filters allow precise control over the amount of light entering the lens, enabling greater creative control over exposure. For content creators, ND filters are very helpful in adjusting shutter speeds to match frame rates while maintaining the depth of field of the footage. PROND filters use HOYA's clear optical glass, which is mounted in a lightweight, precisely crafted aluminum frame. Thanks to the leading ACCU-ND technology, the image is not negatively affected by color shifts that can occur due to inferior materials, poor quality control during manufacturing, or issues with infrared light spectrum leakage. With HOYA's exclusive ACCU-ND technology, a uniform reduction of light in both the visible and IR spectrum is achieved.

9. Hoya Fusion Antistatic CIR-PL Filter
Hoya engineers have developed a new anti-static coating that acts like a force field around the filter to repel dust. Additionally, the hardened, anti-static top layer is water-repellent, stain and scratch-resistant, and easy to clean when stains or fingerprints get on the surface. With circular polarizing filters, photographers can achieve creative, in-camera effects that are no longer possible after the image is taken. A polarizing filter eliminates unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass, as well as light that reflects moisture and pollutants in the atmosphere. By rotating the ultra-smooth filter, you can select the exact amount of filtration needed for the desired creative effect. The new professional anti-static filters from the "Fusion Antistatic" series are made in Japan from carefully selected silicates that are meticulously melted and mixed to create high-performance optical glass. Hoya then applies the utmost care and precision to coat the enhanced 18-layer Super Multi-Coating (on both sides) formula, which significantly reduces or eliminates reflections on the glass surface and achieves very high light transmission rates.

10. Hoya Variable Density Filter
The Hoya Variable ND Filter uses two polarization layers to control the amount of light that passes through the filter and into the camera lens. At its minimum setting, the filter allows one-third of the light to pass through, which corresponds to 1.5 stops or shutter speed values. At its maximum, the filter only allows 1/400th of the light to pass, equating to 9 stops or shutter speed values.
Once the filter is mounted on the lens, rotating the filter ring between "Min" and "Max" allows for optimal control of the light entering the lens. With the Hoya variable density filter, it is possible to take pictures with fast lenses, such as a 50mm f/1.4, at wide open aperture in full sunlight to achieve a very shallow depth of field. Alternatively, the shutter speed can be slowed down to achieve exposure times of several seconds in bright sunlight. This longer shutter speed can create motion blur effects. The popular effect of flowing water appearing almost like mist is thus achievable. Almost all moving objects can create a great impression of motion this way.
For video content creators, ND filters are very helpful in setting shutter speeds to match the frame rate while maintaining the depth of field of the footage.
The Hoya ND variable filter uses high-quality optical lenses from Hoya Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of optical glass. It is available in diameters ranging from 52mm to 82mm. For best results, it is recommended to use a tripod when shooting with long exposure times.
