Plug in/check/replace cable, check channel on monitor, switch on all devices, activate monitor extension on computer....

There are many possible sources of error. A little more information never hurts

In principle, this should work. Has the monitor ever displayed an image with a different adapter on exactly the same USB-C port? There could also be a sync or resolution error. Is the HDMI monitor alone, without any other monitors connected to the docking station? Has the HDMI cable already been replaced or at least rotated?
