In my case, the monitor hangs on its own (Ergotron) arm. I didn't need an additional adapter for this.

The monitor stand can be easily removed (without tools) - or not attached at all. The Vesa mount is underneath, or an adapter is included. I have it on an Ergotron LX monitor arm. Works without any problems.
