According to Amazon, the 4G works worldwide - where 4G is available, otherwise only 3G. I myself have the Oasis with 4G and it works flawlessly in Switzerland. Previously I had the Kindle Voyage with 3G and it worked in Switzerland, Germany, UK and Spain. I assume it's similar in the rest of Europe.
