A rechargeable battery with 3 AA batteries is originally installed. If you remove this, you can insert batteries. I think these should be rechargeable if you want to charge the radio with the cable.

My device does not work with batteries. I don't know whether this is available as an accessory. I use rechargeable batteries for charging.
