Can I actually connect two of these monitors together and then connect one of them to the MacBook Pro? (Macbook > HDMI > Monitor A > HDMI > Monitor B)

Thank you for your enquiry.
The function you describe is called daisy chain and is not supported by the Samsung LU28R554UQRXZG. This requires a display port "Out", which is not integrated in this model.
