Can I connect an iPod to the preamplifier and stream the music to other Yamaha multiroom speakers and have the music playing on the stereo at the same time?
Yes, wireless with Bluetooth or with a cable via USB (rear). If your iPod is DNLA-compatible, you can also play music from iTunes (PC/laptop) or from an iPhone via a network (router/WiFi) on the unit (wireless) using AirPlay. The WXC-50 can be connected to your stereo system via 'AUX Out' and 'PRE Out' (RCA cable). To control the volume via the MusicCast app with the ipod, the 'Power' switch on the back of the unit must be changed from 'Player' to 'Preamp' (and the stereo system must be connected to 'PRE-Out' of the WXC-50). The MusicCast app allows you to control all MusicCast-enabled Yamaha Multiroom devices.
Attached is the link to the WXC-50 user manual (in German, of course).

If I understand your question correctly, you want to transfer music to the preamplifier with your iPod via Airplay, Bluetooth or RCA cable and listen to music simultaneously via the stereo system connected to it, including various Musiccast-compatible active speakers, is that correct? If so, Yamaha assures that all Musiccast devices are compatible and can be played simultaneously. I only use the preamplifier without any other Musiccast devices, so I can't speak from experience. In any case, the unit is a recommendation. In the future, however, I would no longer opt for a full amplifier when operating the system, but only for a power amplifier, because this also makes it easier to control the volume via app, especially if you also operate Mussiccast active speakers (as I assume). At the moment, I only use the WXC-50 in the player function. As I said, I am very satisfied with the quality of the device and its functions. The app was also designed to be user-friendly in my opinion. Best regards ax31_11.
