Can I connect my Mac Book Pro via USB-C cable and my Windows laptop via HDMI cable at the same time and switch between them? For example, select either HDMI or USB-C via the menu. Or do I have to unplug one cable at a time so that I can use the other?

Switching the inputs back and forth is possible, but I would rather buy a 32 inch display with 4K UHD resolution, because with 3860 x 2160 pixels you see much more image content and the Mac can also display that, Windows notebooks as well. I would take a closer look at this one, it doesn't cost any more, but it has much more image content, especially in height, and is less wide than a 34 inch model.
