Can I connect the FRITZ!Fon C5 directly to the Cablecom modem or do I have to connect a FRITZ!Box in between? My Gigaset S610 is defective and needs to be replaced.

The new cablecom modem (Connect Box) does NOT have a DECT base station. The handset does not work with it.

According to Fritz!, the C5 can be registered with an external base station, provided it supports the DECT-GAP standard. Logging on and making calls should then be possible, but the comfort functions on "good luck". I myself use the C5 with a Fritz! box. Greetings

I cannot answer this question for you.
My Fritz! phones C4 and C5 are connected to the Fritz! box and this is connected to the fibre optic network of the EWZ.
A Netgear R7000 router is connected to the Cablecom modem and my PC network runs on it.
The TV sets are connected to the old cable.
With this solution I ALWAYS have at least one working internet connection.
The smartphones log on to both the Fritz!Box and the Netgear router, purely by chance.

Kind regards
