Can I make phone calls with this adapter and not only listen to music via the 3.5mm plug? And does USB work completely via the 2nd Lightning, e.g. modem and not only charging? My current adapter does neither ...

I have been using this adapter for half a year now. It works perfectly! I can charge my iPhone 7 Plus with this adapter and make phone calls at the same time (via 3.5 mm jack). Recommendable!

You can definitely charge and make phone calls or listen to music at the same time. Unfortunately, I can't answer the other question because a colleague uses the adapter.
