thank you for your enquiry.
The Samsung Essential Monitor S31C (24") LS24C314EAUXEN has an HDMI 1.4 connection.
Connecting the monitor via an HDMI 2.0 cable is possible without any problems, as HDMI 2.0 is downward compatible with 1.4. Please note, however, that you can only use the performance range of HDMI 1.4.
