Can the audio output also be output via the hdmi ports as standard (TV speakers) or is it absolutely necessary to have an external audio device connected to the cinch socket/ optical output?

I was able to find the following information from the manufacturer:
Sound output (2.1 stereo) via HDMI or 3.5mm jack possible
Sound output (5.1 digital) via Toslink SPDIF or Coaxial
