All Samsung Multiroom speakers are connected to the Wi-Fi router (via WPS). As long as all speakers are within the reception range of the W-Lan area, there is no need for a hub. With the hub (e.g. model wam250), the reception range can be extended in a large apartment/house. Another note on power consumption: The older types of devices need a lot of power in standby mode.
