Can you please explain how the "instead" price came about? According to my research, the "special offer price" corresponds to Apple's list price (or, in the case of CTO, the price for the listed configuration if I were to order directly from Apple).

This is the effective price that was specified by us. In some cases, the "instead prices" are also generated automatically from the historical price.
