Here's something interesting about Displayport:
Standard Displayport (as created by HP) has no different versions or throughput rates.
There is exactly one standard and anyone who does not comply with it must note this on the cable. If you look, there are some Displayport cables that say 1080p 60hz on the box to indicate this "downgrade".
There is no limit or max. resolution etc. on this cable. Resolution etc. So it must support the standard (2560 x 1440 with 144hz or 4k 60hz). If this were not the case, you could of course complain.
