Do I understand this correctly: Can I connect my laptop's charger somewhere on the docking and then my laptop charges when I connect it via the integrated USB-C cable?

Your notebook must support charging via USB-C. If you connect a USB-C charger to the LADEPORT of the docking station, you can charge your notebook via the integrated USB-C cable.
