I use the extender with the previous model EOS 80D, also with the EF100-400mm.Usually wildlife photography. Light loss during the day is negligible. Tripod strongly recommended.

With the 70d, 7dmark II and with the 5dmark IV it works with wildlife in the morning and evening twilight it becomes more difficult to achieve the desired shutter time as the aperture becomes larger daylight is no problem.
