Does it work with one USB-C cable only? I’m confused by the specs, which say “data port: USB-c” but “video connection: HDMI”.

It works with USB-C for data and power supply. The HDMI cable also works, but then you need a power source via USB-C

Yes I have connected it to my laptop.....the laptop must support video signal transmission on usb c. Check laptop specification.
I have 2 C ports, one USB port and one hdmi port, works perfectly, I use it for the PC with the USB port. Bye Bruno
Theoretically yes, but it depends on the laptop. Just because the laptop has a USB-C port doesn't mean that the screen can be connected to it.
You can use it with a single USB-C cable or getting only power with USB and plug in a HDMI cable for the video signal.
