It does fit, but since the D7100 has an APS-C (DX) sensor and this lens was built for the larger FX sensor (35mm/full frame), the combination is not optimal if you want to use the lens exclusively with the D7100 (google: cropfactor). Then perhaps a cheaper DX lens would be recommended. Unless you plan to switch to full format (e.g. D810) at some point... it is well known that you should budget more for lenses than for the body...
