Does the Fitbit measure steps even if I don't carry my phone in my pocket? I would like a pedometer as I don't carry my mobile phone with me during work....

Yes, the Fitbit Flex 2 measures steps even when the phone is not nearby. The Flex stores the activity and synchronises with the mobile phone as soon as it is near again.
