Does the notebook have a hard, stable housing or a cover that is easy to push in?

A "normal" case, including lid. I've never seen a laptop with a plastic lid. The lid is not made of plastic, but rather aluminium, I would say.
The lid is a total of 6.5mm thick (display + aluminium cover plate). The cover gives way immediately when pressed lightly. However, this is not a problem at all. I have been using the HP ProBook 4 G1i for 2 1/2 months now and I am absolutely delighted with this device.

I installed the notebook for a good friend and it gave me a stable impression, well my MacBook Pro is even better built, but the HP Pro is certainly also good.

It is an aluminium cover like the ones on Macs. In my opinion, the lid withstands normal pressures well.
