Does this controller have the same transmission strength as its predecessor, or has it already been upgraded?

Not updated. The one, new aesthetic change is the shifting of the blue light bar from the top of the older model's controller to just above the touchpad of the new DS4.

The only other change is that the new PlayStation 4 controller offers USB communication. Unlike the original DS4, this means you can play games either wirelessly or via a USB cable.

Other features, such as battery, motion detection and Bluetooth support remain, as does the wireless connection.
