I have ordered 2 of these for myself and my wife for a few months now. We haven't had such a thing yet, but the following points could be the pipsqueak:
1. battery almost empty or when it is charging.
2. when you touch the JBL logo on both sides (it is the Google Assistant pip).

Check these 2 points and hopefully it will work perfectly.
