No, there are no built-in speakers. Yes, you have to buy them separately. Bluetooth compatible, it can be connected to most wireless speakers or, thanks to the cinch connector on the back, it can be connected to a hi-fi system or wireless speakers equipped with jack sockets (with cinch-jack cable for example). For sound systems, I'm partial to Klipsch and Edifier wireless speakers. The UE Hyperboom or JBL Charge or Boombox are also excellent, but they're not stereo.

Personally, I pair it via Bluetooth with a JBL soundbar with excellent results (Bluetooth creates a few tenths of a second of latency), otherwise you can pair it via cable to any amplification system.
