Hello dear Digitec Community, we are extremely happy with our LG UltraFine 27MD5KL-B, especially when connected to our MacBook it works flawlessly as it is designed to do so. However, we face a challenge when trying to connect a Microsoft laptop or similar devices to the screen via USB-C. Unfortunately, we don't get any signal on the screen. Can you guys maybe give us some tips or advice? We are grateful for any help. Many thanks in advance and best regards.

This connection is not USB-C but Thunderbolt3. These are two different technologies that share an identical looking connector. The monitor requires Thunderbolt3 on the computer side - so it will never work if the computer does not have a Thunderbolt3 connector.

The notebook from "DownOnHaley" below, who writes about his "HP EliteBook 840 G7", has a device with a Thunderbolt3 connector - I just looked it up - so the 5K display works fine with it. But on a device that only has USB-C, the 5K display will never work.

Hello,

Using a High Speed USB-C Cable solved my problem. "Not Thunderbolt"

However if you don't have a Mac for brightness management, there is an "OnScreen" application from LG which theoretically allows it to manage brightness.

Best regards,

Alexandre

I have just connected an HP EliteBook 840 G7 with Windows 11 for testing. The monitor works perfectly.

Unfortunately, I can't say why it doesn't work for you.
