Hello, I have the problem that the film sucks up to the screen like a protective film/glass. However, not completely due to the magnetic strips and I therefore have a picture as if it had water spots..... anyone have any ideas about this problem?

Hello loibe82,

Thank you for your feedback and the detailed description of your problem. We are sorry that you are unhappy with the application of the privacy filter. We take your experience very seriously and would like to help you. We have never heard or experienced this before.
The effect you describe, a blotchy appearance or the impression of "water spots", occurs when the privacy filter is placed too close or partially unevenly directly on the display without being held completely at a distance. Such effects are technically caused by so-called Newton rings (halo effects), which occur when two smooth surfaces come into point contact, similar to protective glass without a spacer layer.
This occurs in particular when:
1. the magnetic frame does not sit completely flush so that the film bends slightly in the centre towards the display.
2. there is too much magnetism between the film and the display housing, causing the film to be "pulled" towards the display.
3. the display has a very smooth, reflective surface, as is the case with some anti-reflective or touch surfaces.

How can the problem be solved?
1. slightly lift the film off the display:
By repositioning or adjusting the magnetic strips, the effect can usually be minimised or avoided altogether.
2. clean the display thoroughly with a microfibre cloth when the device is switched off, the display may be statically charged.
If it is statically charged, the film will adhere to the screen.
Switch off the device safely and de-energise it
Shut down the laptop
Disconnect the mains adapter
Clean the display when the device is switched off to avoid electrostatic discharge.

If none of this helps, this is the only possible cause:
If the laptop has a glossy surface and the glossy surface of the filter is facing the display, it will attract static electricity.
Here is a brief explanation:
If the laptop display has a glossy surface
and the inside of the privacy filter is also glossy or smooth, then there is an electrostatic attraction between the two surfaces, especially in the case of dry room air or friction when the filter is attached.
This attraction acts like a vacuum effect and draws in the surface at certain points or over a large area.
This results in Newton rings, streaks or blotchy effects.
The image appears uneven or optically contaminated, although both are technically intact.
Please try to clean the glossy side thoroughly. If this is still the case, please use the matt side in this individual case.

I hope this has helped you.
Kind regards
Your DISPLEX Team.

I have actually given up on using the magnets / glue coming with such covers, and instead just put it in front of the screen. The cover rests on the joint between screen and keyboard. Yes, the top 1cm of my screen is not covered but it saves me from trying to find a solution for the magnets or glue not working.
