Question about Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

Hello, I use a Canon EOS 2000D with the kit alone I can't zoom in on distant things. However, I would like to photograph the moon and stars or zoom in on animals. Will that work with this lens and will it fit on my camera? Is it recommended for beginners?

In my opinion, you can't zoom in close enough on animals and the moon with this lens.
