S/PDif (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki...) is a unidirectional communication. The extractor only splits the HDMI audio channel and forwards it to the device connected with TOSLINK. No conversion is carried out in the extractor. However, S/PDif is a very old standard that can only transmit 20 Mbps. If the audio output of the XBox can be set so that this condition is fulfilled at all times, then the Logitech boxes generally have no problem.

Formats that should work:
- LPCM (Stereo 2.0)
- Dolby Digital
- DTS
- Dolby ProLogic II
- etc.

Formats that certainly do not work:
- Dolby Atmos
- Dolby True HD
- DTS-HD
- etc.

In order for the latter group to also work, the sending device, in this case the Xbox, would have to be capable of downsampling (conversion). Unfortunately, I cannot say whether this works with the XBox.

The audio signal is filtered out of the Hdmi and passed on at the audio output. Anyone can attach devices there
