I have the display on a Macbook Pro 2018 with USB-C - software version Big Sur. Initially, I tried it with a CHF60 Thunderbolt 3 cable from Belkin - it didn't work. However, with a USB C cable from Mio Star (Migros, USB 3.1 Gen.2) everything works perfectly, including the camera at full resolution (5120 x 1440).

I bought the Philips 499P9H a week ago. Disappointingly, the monitor comes with all sorts of cables, but NO USB-C cable with Thunderbolt 3 technology!

I had to invest over 100 francs for various USB-C cables. Only Thunderbolt 3 cables work for monitors and unfortunately these also have different assignments depending on the manufacturer. This whole issue is neither illuminated by the manufacturers nor by Galaxus. I think this is a mess!!!

Finally, the Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable works for my Macbook 2020 with M1 processor as well as for the Lenovo X1 Yoga. The camera as well as the USB and network connection work. Note: The monitor does not recognise when a computer (X1 Yoga or Macbook via usb-c) wakes up from standby. The solution for me at the moment is that I always have to turn the monitor off and on again. This is quite annoying and disturbing.

In terms of quality, compared to my Thunderbolt display from 2011, I give it a maximum grade of 3. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything better on the market. If anyone wants to start a company that produces high-quality displays for less than CHF 6,000, I'm in.
