How is the microphone attached to the mobile phone? Do I need a special mobile phone case or something for it? What if it is to be used by different people?

This mic is more for mounting on cameras. You screw the microphone onto the camera's hot shoe. There are sets that are made directly for mobile phones. Shure has something like that in their range, directly for vlogging: Mobile phone holder, tripod and microphone in one.
