How long is the support piece underneath the table top? I have a tabletop that is bevelled 3 cm at the bottom.

Exactly, the metal piece is approx. 6 cm long (measured from the outside); measured from the edge of the table, it protrudes approx. 5.5 or slightly more (see 5.6 below) cm below the table top.
The lower bracket extends around 5 cm below the tabletop.
The workpiece advances to about 5.6cm below the table.
